Exciting News: Unite Us has Acquired Carrot Health. Click here to learn more about how we are improving health nationwide.
Melissa came to Unite Us after 11 years working on population health management and public health strengthening initiatives, both domestically and internationally, including work in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe. Most recently, Melissa worked as the Director of Population Health Innovation and Transformation for Johns Hopkins Healthcare, where her focus was on partnering with community-based organizations to improve health outcomes in high risk populations. Melissa was drawn to Unite Us after hearing about how mission-driven the company was, and realizing that it combined her interests in strengthening communities, improving population health, and generating data to show the value of investing in people’s basic needs. Melissa finished a PhD in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH) in May 2019, where her research focused on quantifying the associations between neighborhood resources and medical spending to make the case for financial investment in neighborhood resources. She previously completed an MPH at JHSPH in 2012, and has a BS and a BA from The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!). Melissa currently lives in Washington, DC, where she enjoys working out, spending time with her horse, cooking, and dreaming about being able to travel again so she can get back to trying to visit every country in the world.
