That’s why at Unite Us, we go beyond counting needs — we measure what drives them. Our Community Needs Map uses our proprietary Self Sufficiency Score to visualize stability across every county in the U.S., showing how social, environmental, and economic conditions shape people’s ability to thrive.
The Community Needs Map Composite Index represents a grouping of four social need indices that track key social risk factors down to the county level. These four indices describe needs relating to socioeconomic status, healthcare access, literacy, social isolation, rural vulnerability and more.
